Effects when combined with other drugs

The effects of benzodiazepines can be increased when combined with other central nervous system depressants, such as alcohol and pain relievers, and can lead to a dangerous increase in sedation, sometimes leading to coma.

The combination of benzodiazepines and alcohol or other drugs can also cause “black outs” or a period of time when the person has no recollection of where they were and what they were doing.
