Social Phobia

Social Phobia is an excessive concern about one’s inadequacies, and a fear that other people are thinking negatively or judgementally. A person with Social Phobia worries about saying or doing something embarrassing, making mistakes, not looking right or not behaving as they think they should. He or she also worries a lot about looking anxious or nervous, for example sweating, having a trembling voice, shaking or blushing.

A person with social phobia may have difficulty speaking in front of others, making telephone calls, eating in front of others, or signing her or his name in front of other people.

The anxiety associated with social phobia can mean that a person avoids stressful situations which often affect his or her study, career prospects or relationships.
